60 CAPSULES 600 mg

200 mg lactoferrin per capsule.

Supplement based on Lactoferrin, Quercetin, Vitamin C and Zinc, indicated to provide additional supply in case of deficiency or increased need.

The synergetic effect of the active ingredients present creates a natural barrier effect.

Vitamin C and Zinc help strengthen the function of the immune system.

  • LACTOPHERRIN: is a glycoprotein present in milk, in various mucous secretions (saliva and tears) and in cells involved in modulating the body’s immune response.

It possesses antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory and protective action on the intestinal mucosa.

It also performs the task of transporting iron in the blood, with twice the capacity of transferrin, helping those with iron deficiency to assimilate it better.

Thanks to an Italian study (carried out at the La Sapienza and Tor Vergata universities in Rome), published in the prestigious journal Frontiers in Pharmacology, its therapeutic role in asymptomatic and paucisymptomatic patients has been glimpsed; it is in fact known that virus replication is, in general, favoured by an excess of intracellular free iron.

Therefore, the administration of lactoferrin, by directly subtracting iron and having a significant anti-inflammatory activity, decreases the intracellular accumulation of this element and, consequently, viral infection.

In addition, due to its cationic nature, it binds to components of the virus (Spike protein) and the cell, preventing entry into host cells and propagation of the infection.

To sum up, we have:

– The antibacterial action is partly due to the intrusion during the attachment phase of pathogens to host cells and partly to the ability to incorporate iron.

– The antiviral action is due to lactoferrin’s ability to attract the pathogen to its receptors so that it penetrates the protective barrier. According to studies, the protein is able to directly target the RNA of the virus, interfering with its replication and propagation.

  • QUERCETIN: this important molecule is a natural flavonoid with high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power, found in various foods (e.g. broccoli, onion, lemon, apple).

According to a study carried out at the Institute of Nanotechnology of the National Research Council (CNR-Nanotec) in Cosenza and by a group of researchers in Zaragoza and Madrid, quercetin appears to act as a specific inhibitor of SARS-CoV-2, because it hinders the activity of an enzyme that is useful for the development and replication of the new coronavirus.

  • VITAMIN C and ZINC GLUCONATE: used in the treatment of viral diseases since time immemorial, they appear to reduce the duration and severity of COVID-19 symptoms.

Zinc is believed to increase the ability of polymorphonuclear cells to fight infection, while Vitamin C is an antioxidant that plays an important role in maintaining an efficient immune system.

Although there is currently no conclusive evidence that vitamin C supplementation can protect people against SARS-nCoV2, it should be emphasised that in high-risk groups (e.g. obese, diabetics, heart patients, the elderly, etc.) its supplementation reduces markers of inflammation, thus susceptibility to infection, and the eventual development of the disease.
